Happy New Year to all.
I have had a very productive month in my sewing room.
The only thing that didn’t get finished is getting it clean for the New Year.
Who knows maybe that will be the new me, sewing in a scrap filled, fabric piled high, where are my scissors sewing room.
I will be posting some pictures in a couple of days, as soon as I find my camera. It is probably in my sewing room somewhere because I have looked in all the usual places.
Here is my list of projects I hope to accomplish in 2010
1. Japanese Garden Quilt by Karen Kay Buckley, this one I will be doing on my own.
2. Magical Medallions by Karen Kay Buckley, doing this one with Applique Cafe as a Block of the Quarter.
3. Le Jardin by Bunny Hill Designs, doing this with a Yahoo group that does Bunny Hill patterns.
4. Pepper Dish by Judy Niemeyer, doing this as part of a class on Applique Cafe. Yikes it has been a long time since I have done Paper Piecing.
5. Nancy Pearson Floral Bouquet, part of a project with my local TAS group
6. Aunt Millie’s Garden by Piece O Cake Designs, doing this with the Applique Cafe group.
I already have a few of the blocks back basted for Le Jardin. I did decide to do it in her colors.
I have also finished my Christmas tree wallhanging, I have to put the binding on 4 quilts, Duquesa, Murano, Lickity Split and my Butterflies at night quilts.
Tomorrow I am going to do more back basting and make a couple of bags for my work.
I will be heading back out to all the shops with some new lines by Blank and I am looking forward to getting those. I should have all the newest collections by Jan 2nd. Yeah!!
I am sure the list will grow. I am working on some of these with a Yahoo Group called Applique Cafe, here is the link
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Applique_Cafe
I have also listed 5 of these projects as ones that need to be done by 2010 with The online chapter of the Applique Society. Here is the link

I am co-moderator of this group and I love it. I am trying to get the ladies to be a bit more chatty.
Well again Happy New Year and may all your days be blessed with the Spirit of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Hello everyone, I wanted to wish you all a very Merry Christmas. I have had a couple of days off and so I have been busy sewing up a storm until today.
I went to midnight Mass last night and didn’t get home until 1:30 am. So of course I slept late and then I had no energy to do anything.
Today I just vegetated. Hopefully tomorrow will be more productive.
Have fun everyone.

I thought I would post a bit about what my likes or dislikes are every month.
I will also post about things I may not like from time to time, especially if I wasted my money on something that I think is a total Dud. I hope to make this a monthly post but I may write stuff in this category more often.
My Favorite Blank Collections right now.
Every 4-6 months Blank Quilting, the company I work for comes out with new fabric collections. I always pick my favorite ones and try to make a quilt or bag or something with it.
At the 2009 Spring Market my favorite collection was Murano.
I just loved that Graphite color way. This collection was well liked by the shops as well, in all three color ways. It is still one of my favorites.
This time around there wasn’t any one collection where I had to have the whole thing but I did like many of the pieces that we offered.
The Honeystone Hill Patina was my absolute favorite and I do have that in my collection with some of the brown and tan pieces. It is hard to see it in the photo but the blue and brown on this piece is just gorgeous.
I will be making something special soon. I am also making other projects and will post those photos when they are completed.
My Favorite Books or Not!
One Line at a Time by Charlotte Warr Andersen
I bought this book because she is a great artist and another Blank rep. I got it and put it on the table to look at later because I figured it was just another quilting book. Well a couple of days ago I sat down to watch TV and picked it up and started looking through it and was surprised. I can’t say much without giving too much away but she has some great ideas on how to achieve great designs without marking. It involves paper and that is all I am saying. I decided it wasn’t a Dud at all.
Here are some of my other new favorites
My Favorite TV Shows:
All I can say is Thank God for Tivo!
I record them all week and then watch them during brain dead times.
*These are the ones that I will cry when they take them off the air.
House, Burn Notice, Criminal Minds, The Forgotten, Lie to Me, Three Rivers.
These others I like but I won’t die if they go away. Well Maybe!
The Mentalist, Cold Case, CSI Miami, Mercy, Flash Forward, Trauma, The Good Wife.
Well I will try to add to this post again later in the week. I am off to take care of some dishes. Oh yeah, now there is something for today that I truly dislike!

I have been sewing up a storm, testing patterns, making samples for work and just enjoying as many minutes with my family as I can.
I just wanted to post and let you know some more photos have been added to the Quilts 2009 Gallery.
This is a small photo of my favorite one so far.

There is a larger photo in the Gallery
I just loved that Murano fabric line. This quilt is now quilted and once I get the binding on it I will post a new photo.
The other photos are in the process of being quilted as well.
I hope you enjoy the photos.
I should have the gallery fixed so that it displays properly as soon as I can get to it later this month.
Enjoy your day. Pickleweed

I joined in on another Electric Quilt Round Robin Swap. If you have EQ you can download the project by clicking on the photo of the finished project.
In case you don’t know what an Electric Quilt swap is, I will give a brief explanation.
Electric Quilt has a area on their website under Community then Club EQ where you can sign up and as soon as they get 3 other sign-ups they group you together.
They are pretty good about making sure that the others in your group are just as new or advanced as you are.
I am still a newbie swapper and so I am not being paired up with the advanced EQ6 users. Thank Goodness, this way I am not intimidated about messing up their superior designs. If you look on the website you can see previous swaps that were done and you can tell that some gals have been using this program a long time and probably every day. Me I just use it every once in a while, usually if I am trying to figure something out.
Once the group is formed it is up to the group to pick a leader. The leaders job is to make sure the group swaps on time etc. Then as a group you can choose a theme. The theme we decided on for this swap was Stars and the color scheme had to be all baby pastels or all monochromatic. As you can see I did the monochromatic center star piece.
I hope you enjoy the project. I have others to upload at a later date, including one that was going to be a mystery quilt.

I just had to use this fabric in a quilt. Are you kidding, purples and browns. Yummy!!
I of course had to use the line so that it could be a sample to show my shops and I used most of the Duquesa II line and the black comes from another Blank fabric line called Dream Garden by Yolanda Fundora.
I just loved it. I only showed it to a couple of shops and then a shop borrowed it to show and help sell the fabric line. I didn’t mind since I will get it back completely quilted.
The pattern for the blocks comes from the Quilt Sampler Magazine Fall/Winter 2008 issue.
The inner border I designed myself by just playing with the fabrics, getting that light purple piece was the trickiest because it really was the zinger for the quilt, but too much and it really made the quilt look gaudy. I also have to say that once the main part was done, deciding on the borders took me about 2 weeks of just throwing stuff on the design wall and then taking a break and coming back and looking at it with fresh eyes.
I also used the fabric called Feather in the Bali Rain collection for the background and I really love that collection, it just adds even more to the quilt. It provides movement without being to over powering in the quilt. The jewel tones on that collection are wonderful.
I decided on the final black border because I knew that rest of the quilt was already pretty busy and I just wanted to frame it nicely. I picked out lots of black and browns and this is the one that just spoke to the quilt.
